The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEF) and Somaliland Chamber of Commerce, industry and agriculture was held on 24 May, 2017.
Mr. Jamal Aided Ibrahim, Vice-President of SCCIA, Mr. Ibrahim, Secretary of SCCIA, Mr Mohamoud, technical consultant and SMEF project team, led by George Waigi attended the meeting. Mr. Mr. Jamal Aided Ibrahim and George Waigi signed the MOU on behalf of SCCIA and SMEF.
George Waigi provided a brief introduction about SMEF and its services to Somaliland SMEs. He acknowledged the good working relationship between SMEF and the Chamber. He said “the MoU is to formalise the good relationship we have maintained so far”. He added that SMEF is committed to continue the support it provides to Somaliland SMEs.
Mr. Jamal, speaking on behalf of SCCIA, noted the critical role that SMEF could play in complementing the functions and works of the Chamber. Mr. Jamal said “’It is a great honour for me to sign this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on business services development with SMEF. The MoU will lay a common platform that we will work together more closely towards our common goal, the pursuit of supporting SMEs”. He added that SMEF’s mandate is also open of the top priority areas for SCCIA. He continued to express his gratitude to SMEF and everyone whose dedication and efforts is provide a positive contribution to the development of Somaliland SMEs.
This MoU, signed between the two organizations defines the framework for future cooperation. Both Parties agreed to cooperate on providing practical business-oriented support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are members of SCCIA in Somaliland, with the aim of adding value to each other’s activities.
In the MoU, the SMEF and the SCCIA committed to implement joint activities and mutual support that will increase synergy and contribute to the common goal of supporting Somaliland SMEs to improve the performance of businesses. The cooperation lasts for 12 months and will end on 30th June 2018
